Sales with Instax: Ronald Leong on selling Instax Wide prints at Magicon 2024
3 June 2024Clarissa Hattingh won a VIP experience with Instax at the Sonneblomfees, held recently at Casalinga in Muldersdrift. How did the day with her new Instax mini Evo turn out? We chatted to her afterwards to find out more.

Congratulations on being selected as an Instax Superfan for the Sonneblomfees!
Thank you so much for this opportunity! I entered the Instax Superfan competition which Instax South Africa had on their Facebook page to win an Instax camera, film, Instax merchandise and a VIP-experience at the Sonneblomfees. I honestly did not think I stood a chance, there were many other hopeful candidates who also commented, shared and followed.

What do you think of the new Instax mini Evo in brown?
The Instax mini Evo is a beautiful vintage looking camera with loads of features which comes with a gorgeous brown leather carry bag. During the day I took photos and created memories with other VIP guests, plus I captured some of the artists performing on stage as well as the MCs who were hosting on stage.

Did you manage to share some of your prints?
The Sonneblomfees was an amazing experience and so too creating memories with the people around me. With the Instax mini Evo I was able to share a lot of pictures I caught on film with friends at the festival. I also met a mother and daughter and gave them each a photo and so too for a lovely couple I encountered. It’s great to create memories with them and make their experience better.

Did you manage to capture a few of the artists?
Yes, I did actually photograph a number of performers. The best was taking photos with them, printing it and then having them signed! My favourite photo of the day is the one I took with Dricus Du Plessis and also Zaan Sonnekus.

Have you ever used an Instax before the festival?
I have used a friend’s Instax before but to be honest it’s not the same as the fancy Instax mini Evo. The camera is very easy to use, and I enjoy the fact that it’s both a digital camera and a printer. This means I could take a picture with my phone and print it out via the Mini Evo app, or I could take it with the camera where the exposure and light settings can be. I also love the vintage look and feel of the camera.

What did you like most about the Sonneblomfees?
The Sonneblomfees is most definitely a colour festival, almost like a South African Coachella where music, fun and laughter were on offer. Music is, and always has been, a big part of my life so attending Afrikaans music concerts and festivals is always an honour.
I can’t even choose my favourite act at the festival – I really think that every artist who was invited to Sonneblomfees 2024 left the stage with the crowd also wanting more.
My favourite part of the Sonneblomfees was meeting new and exciting people, including one of my favourite artists, Anrika Bruinders and to swap a friendship bracelet with her.
I must say, the Instax photo island at the Instax stand was out-of-this-world incredible. The detail to the different backgrounds where you could get your photo taken was amazing, and my favourite one was the swing and angel wings.
