Cricketer Mignon du Preez has been a stalwart in the South African women’s cricket team, having represented the country in 154 ODIs across the globe. During the past year’s ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022, our women played some incredible cricket, progressing through to the semi-finals. Du Preez took along an Instax link Wide printer to document her journey in New Zealand, sharing a few of her thoughts with the Instax team.
The Instax Link Wide is the perfect little travel companion to capture your memories directly from a smartphone. Not only is this mini photo printer small and compact but it can easily fit in your bag to ensure that your captured memories can now also be shared with others in the form of a photo.
I had the opportunity to take the Instax Link Wide printer with me to the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 that was held in New Zealand earlier this year. This made it possible to document my whole journey from start to finish, capturing some amazing moments along the way.
The Link Wide also came in handy for Valentine's Day and some special birthdays too, with my dad and my nephew Pascal celebrating theirs during this time. In the following pictures I tried out the custom-made templates that are available on the Link Wide App, plus played around with the QR code option. This allows you to add a hidden note or even a voice message through a printed QR on the photo.
At the start of the Cricket World Cup I put up my printed Wide photos to remind me of the people supporting me back home, and the journey that was lying ahead.
This expanded as we reached the end of the group stages to reach the knockout phase. South Africa qualified for the World Cup quarter-finals after our game against the West-Indies got washed out. For the quarter-finals we faced a massive battle against India, with the match resting on the final ball to decide the outcome – it was a win for South Africa!
The semi-finals were played against a fired-up English team, and although we gave the match our all, South Africa’s ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2022 journey ended there. What an experience though!
With the Link Wide I've managed to capture a few special memories like my 150th ODI for SA when we won against hosts New Zealand. There were also other highlights of my #CWC22 journey, which I included using the QR code functionality during the competition. This included my Nissan Play of the Day Catch against Australia, the Mignon du Preez Mainstay of South Africa’s support system video by ICC, and a video of our last over thriller against India where I scored the winning runs and was awarded the Player of the Match trophy.
